I will be offering a lecture on Sunday, July 13, at 3:00pm CST.
This lecture will cover:
Vocabulary: setting realistic teaching goals; techniques for helping your students make word associations and learn about word building; techniques for teaching advanced level vocabulary, such as context clues; and ways to encourage learner autonomy.
Pronunciation: we will discuss the factors (cultural/social) that apply to student progress in pronunciation; learn about developing realistic expectations for improvement; identify areas to focus on for maximum effect; and finally, we will go over how to explain how to pronounce sounds, including an overview of the speech pathway.
This lecture is resource heavy. I provide tons of links to good online resources as well as a few activities that I have found to be effective and fun ways to teach pronunciation.
If you would like an invite, please email email@example.com. Invites will be sent the morning before the lecture.
